I have also shared an ebook with shopping list for Laxmi Puja. Dont forget to check that here.
Now comes The day of Kojagori Laxmi Puja.Since we have all the required ingredients ready, following this puja manual will help you to execute the puja smoothly.
I will give you step by step process from start to end.-
The night before puja, try to complete the whole decoration part like lighting, mandap decor etc. Also if you like to give lots of alpona ( bengali rangolis) do it the night before. Some of the designs are given here . As we have a small apartment we do it on the the day of puja.
Step 1: In the morning of puja, take a good shower, wear something clean and comfortable cotton garments and start the preparation remembering narayan and laxmi maa's idol in mind , praying to be with you and guide you.
Step 2: Take out little bit Govindabhog rice and moong dal ( qty depens on howmuch dry chal dal anna bhog you wanna provide) and soak them in water. This will make them soft and easy to digest as they are raw.
Step 3: Now in the north east / east part of your puja room , place a clean chowki / piri. Now spread a red cloth on top of it. And place laxmi maa's idol on that. Next light a lamp and dhoop to make the environment divine.
Put a garland on her and decorate the chowki with fresh flowers. Take two lotuses , bloom them by putting pressure on top and keep them on 2 sides of devi maa.
Step 4: Ghot sthapana
This is the most crucial step in any puja.If you can't buy idol or anything else, just by doing the Ghat puja we can worship Laxmi Devi. You need to find an auspicious time of the day to do Ghot sthapona. You need to avoid barbela at any cost because on that time of day Vishnu goes to patal lok. It's an interesting story, will share some other day if you are interested on such mythological stories, comment down below.
You can find Bengali Panjika/ Panchnag with tithi , lagna, barbela , abhijit muhurta etc below.
We opted for Abhijit Muhurta for Ghot sthapona.
1) Draw an alpona / rangoli where you want to place the ghot (mostly in front of the idol).
Also draw Laxmi maa charan with dhaner chora as a design.this symbolises devi maa will come following her footprints and settle in our home.Amazing and divine isn't?
On the center of alpona, put some sindoor, odd numbers dhan , little Ganga mati.
2) Fill the Ghot with Ganga water .On the body of the ghot, draw a swastik / puttuli sign something I have shown below.
3) Take Amrapallab with odd numbers of leaves and put dots on each leaves using sindoor and put inside the ghot.
4) put a pan pata ( beetle leaf) on top of amrapallav and give a dot with sindoor on the pan pata.
5) Take a dab / kathali kola , these are called shreefol. And draw similar swastik with sindoor on the body.
6) Now place the Shreefal on top of the beetle leaf.
7) Place and secure the ghot on the gonga mati by giving ulu dhoni and blow the Sonkho (conch shell) to celebrate the moment.
8) Now touching the ghot chant ghot sthapona mantra ( will share the free kojagori mantra pdf in part 3) and ask the suprepower laxmi maa to come to your home and bless everyone.
9) Now lit the diya/ lamp. This is called Akhand diya which means we cant put it off until the evening is over. So make sure you put ample amount of oil in the diya so that it continues to lit.So keep an eye on it And burn some dhoop/ agarbattis alongside.
10) At this point, start arranging the plates and thalis needed for puja for next step.
